The company Tkalec AG was founded 1977 in Vienna. After a very serious preparation, the first auction with Ancient Coins started in the year 1985 in Vienna. Yet this first auction had the same claim as all the following auctions: Quality!

The founder of the company, Anton Tkalec, was engaged in Ancient Coins since the late fifties. He choses even very rare coins only if they refer to his very high standards in conservation and beauty of style. No doubt, he was able to increase this very high standard in course of the last years.

Because of this severe selection, the auctions could not be done every year, but not before the high-grade material was placed together.
Unfortunately, here we have no place to pick out some of the numberous Highlights.

As the international meaning of the company has grown in this years, the location was transfered to Zurich, where the auctions continued.

The catalogs of the Tkalec AG do not only fulfill the desires of the numismatic or historical interested collector. They also give every art-interested a glimpse into the art of ancient coinage, witch is mostly at the same level as the related arts such as sculpture, painting or architecture.
